传统的架子床以六柱、八柱为主，而四柱的架子床，显得比较少见。今天我们实拍一款嘉木堂1996年收藏的四柱架子床。

明代晚期黄花梨四柱架子床

尺寸：宽209深146高204cm

年代：16世纪末~17世纪初

The seat frame of mitre ,mortise and tenon construction ,the edge of the frame molds inward starting from about half way down and then molds gently downwards and ends in a crisp flat edge .

The recessed waist and the apron , made of one piece of wood ,is mitred ,mortised and tenoned into and halflapped onto the legs which are curved to end in beautifully shaped feet .

The apron is edged with a wide beading ,grooved in the middle ,and this continues down the legs .The removable seat was drilled for soft seat and is now restored with old coconut palm fibres .

Four square section upright members . rounded on the outsides ,are mortised and tenoned to the four corners of the seat and rise to support the laohuali top canopy with two transverse braces .

which are mortised and tenoned to the long sides of the canopy forming three 'windows' .

Below the canopy and between the structural uprights are mitred ,mortised and tenoned frames with open work yumendong panels .

three on the long sides and two on the short sides ,divided by pillar shaped mitred strutts .

These frame works are double tenoned into the structural uprights .

Above the seat and tenoned to the uprights are railings with beautifully worked mitred member of geometric pattern ,one long one in the back ,two on the sides .

The entire super structure can be dismantled .
